Arizona State’s baseball recruiting class for 2009 has been ranked No. 1 in the country by Baseball America – the second time the Sun Devils have held that distinction in coach Pat Murphy’s tenure.

ASU, which also had the top class in 1995, was also ranked No. 1 by Collegiate Baseball for 2009.

The Devils will have 21 newcomers joining the team in 2009, 12 of whom have been selected in the Major League Baseball draft. The class features 15 freshmen and six junior college transfers, and three of those were named junior college All-Americans (OF/LHP Kole Calhoun, IF Jared McDonald and LHP Josh Spence).
